Pavers Installation
Phx Pavers specializes in all phases of brick and interlocking concrete paver installation, deck and patio remodeling, design and build for any residential or commercial exterior application. We enjoy what we do, are constantly striving for excellence, and warranty our work from the ground up. We service Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, Cave Creek, Carefree, Fountain Hills, Gilbert, Peoria, Phoenix, Arizona and their surrounding areas.
How We Install Pavers
A paver surface is only as good as what's underneath it. Most paver failures — cracking, sinking, shifting, weeds pushing through joints — trace back to a base that wasn't prepared correctly, not the pavers themselves. That's why our installation process focuses as much on what happens before the first paver goes down as it does on the finished look.
Excavation and Site Preparation
We excavate to the proper depth for your project type, accounting for the paver, bedding sand, and base material together. Driveways and other vehicle-bearing surfaces are excavated deeper than patios and walkways, since they need to carry more load without settling.
Base Compaction
A compacted aggregate base is what actually holds the surface stable over time. We compact in layers rather than all at once, which prevents the base from settling unevenly after installation and gives the finished surface long-term structural integrity.
Edge Restraints
Pavers stay locked in place because of the edge restraint system installed around the perimeter of every project. Without it, pavers gradually spread apart under traffic and weather. We install restraints suited to the surface type and expected use.
Paver Placement
Each paver is laid by hand over a bedding sand layer, with attention to consistent joint spacing, pattern alignment, and proper cuts around edges, drains, and fixtures. This is the stage where craftsmanship shows — tight, even joints are what separate a professional installation from a rushed one.
Joint Sand and Finishing
Once pavers are placed, we sweep in joint sand (polymeric sand for most applications) to lock the pavers together, prevent weed growth, and stabilize the surface. The finished project is cleaned and inspected before we walk it with you.
What We Install
We install pavers for a wide variety of applications, all tailored to how you actually use the space:
- Walkway Pavers
- Patio Pavers
- Driveway Pavers
- Pool Deck Pavers
If you have an existing concrete patio or slab, thin veneer pavers can often be installed directly over it, saving the cost and mess of removing the old concrete while still giving you the full look of natural stone or brick pavers. This technique is not used for driveway pavers, which require the full base preparation described above. See our Paver Overlay page for more on this option.
Paver Materials We Work With
We install a wide variety of paver materials to fit your needs and complement your landscape, including:
- Concrete Pavers
- Brick Pavers
- Permeable Pavers
- Travertine Pavers
- Porcelain Pavers
- Natural Stone Pavers
- Artistic Stone (of many various types)
- And other types as per requests
We're an established Belgard dealer and Acker-Stone installer, giving you access to industry-leading paver lines alongside our own installation expertise.
